More About KIDS COUNT

KIDS COUNT, a national and state effort funded by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, tracks the status of children in the U.S. and publishes a national data book each year. By providing policymakers and citizens with benchmarks of child well-being, KIDS COUNT seeks to enrich local, state, and national discussions concerning ways to secure better futures for all children.

The Iowa KIDS COUNT is published by the Child and Family Policy Center. Visit the Child and Family Policy Center website for data on how well kids in Iowa are doing in a variety of areas. Data is available from 1980 through 2006.

Iowa has focused on a variety of indicators since it began administering the KIDS COUNT program in 1991. The most recent Iowa KIDS COUNT report with 2006 data uses 19 indicators to track child well-being in the areas of health, education, welfare, and economics.
